The People's Business

In April, the GOP-led House of Representatives spent a grand total of 11 days in session (including, appropriately, April Fools' Day). Their accomplishments for the month included passage of the Paul Ryan budget that would privatize Medicare, had no chance in the Senate, and ultimately cost the GOP a New York House seat.

In May, the GOP will log a whopping 15 days in session. (That includes today's session, which convened at 10 a.m. and adjourned at ... 10:04 a.m.). The GOP Reps this month passed laws to weaken environmental standards enacted following the Gulf oil-spill disaster, and hectored an official charged, in the wake of the 2008 economic meltdown, with protecting consumers from financial vultures.

Question: Is it better for the GOP-led House to spend more time in session, thus continuing to saw off the limb they're standing on? Or is it better that they just stay home and stop wasting time?
